‘Isolation Music’ 

Head of Yaşar University’s Department of Music, Prof. Mehmet Can Özer created his series of compositions “Isolation Music” where he presented his 7 works inspired by the feelings and thoughts of those people who had to remain in isolation.

A renowned figure of electroacoustic music having been deemed worthy of numerous international prizes, Prof. Mehmet Can Özer released his sixth solo album “2020” making available all of his works that he composed during the pandemic. The “Isolation Music” series by Özer and the album composing of his “#beethoo” named electroacoustic compositions qualify for being a pandemic journal as a whole.

Head of the Department of Music within Yaşar University Faculty of Arts and Design, Prof. Mehmet Can Özer continued his nonstop music production during the time when all concerts and events were canceled.   Upon the orders of composition works from various festivals, Prof. Mehmet Can Özer created his series of compositions “Isolation Music” where he presented his 7 works inspired by the feelings and thoughts of those people who had to remain in isolation. Composing a three-part work that he named “#beethoo” to pay tribute to Beethoven in 2020 for the 250th anniversary of his passing, Özer released both of these works in his album “2020”.

Producing on the junction where art meets technology, Prof. Mehmet Can Özer is making use of the software tools he developed for his compositions and visuals. Özer’s album is now available on all digital music platforms. The album is also available on YouTube for those who want to enjoy the album with its visual components.
