Yaşar University has initiated Yaşar University Center for Women and Family Studies (YUWFS) to conduct scientific activities and awareness-raising projects to eliminate gender inequality. During the online panel session organized as the first event of the center on “Gender Equality, Patriarchy and Violence”, YUWFS Director Prof. Huriye Toker noted, “Each day five women are being murdered in Turkey and each day we keep silent means that we are responsible for the femicide and the violence against women”
Prof. Toker also added,“Our center will put its efforts to reinforce the city İzmir and Turkey against gender-based inequality and femicide, while also conducting awareness-raising and scientific studies focusing on gender inequality. We will continue our works to combat gender inequality.”
