Yaşar Üniversitesi Ekonomi Bölümü 3. Sınıf öğrencisi Ege Atis, ABD’nin önde gelen yükseköğretim kurumlarından Missouri State University ile konuk konuşmacı olarak davet edildiği Sprinfield Rotaract Kulübü’nde İzmir’i ve Yaşar Üniversitesi’ni tanıttı.
İzmir’in sahip olduğu coğrafi konumun önemli avantajlar sağladığına dikkat çeken Ege Atis ‘’Üniversitemizin bilimsel düşünce, modern teknoloji ve insan odaklı çağdaş eğitim felsefesinin dinleyiciler arasında yoğun ilgi görmesinden büyük mutluluk duydum. Yükseköğretim sektöründe ABD, dünya genelinde tartışmasız olarak lider. Bu alanda uzun yıllardır sürdürdükleri küresel işbirliği açılımlarını kararlılıkla devam ettireceklerini yerinde gözlemledim. Bu durum hem İzmir hem de Türkiye’de yükseköğretim sektörü için önemli ve yeni fırsatlar sunuyor. İzmir coğrafi konumu, ılıman iklimi, sahip olduğu insan kaynağı ve ekonomik potansiyeliyle ABD’de oldukça dikkat çekiyor. Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde İzmir’i ve üniversitemizi tanıtmaktan mutluluk duydum. Springfield Rotaract Kulübü 2016-2017 dönem başkanı Derek Richardson’a ve üyelere konuk severlikleri ve gösterdikleri ilgi için teşekkür ediyorum’’ dedi.
Konuşmasının ardından soruları yanıtlayan ve misafir üye olarak çalışmalarına katıldığı İzmir Rotaract Kulübü’nün tanıtımını da gerçekleştiren Ege Atis, toplumsal duyarlılık ve paylaşım temelinde gerçekleştirdikleri sosyal sorumluluk projelerini örnekleriyle anlattı.
Ege Atis, a third-year student at Yaşar University’s Department of Economics, introduced İzmir and Yaşar University at one of the prominent higher education institutions of the US, Missouri State University, as well as at the Rotaract Club of Springfield where he was invited as a guest speaker.
Emphasizing the significant advantages that İzmir offers thanks to its geographical location, Ege Atis said, “I am glad to see that the contemporary education philosophy embraced by our university based on the ‘people-first’ principle, the principle of scientific approach and modern technology has attracted intensive attention among the participants of this organization. The USA is, indisputably, the leader of the world’s higher education sector. I, myself, witnessed that the US is determined to further its global engagement in this field, which has already been going on for years. This is important for the higher education sector in İzmir, as well as in Turkey at large since it offers new opportunities. İzmir has been attracting attention in the US thanks to its geographical location, mild climate, human resources, and the economic potential it possesses. I am happy to be here to introduce İzmir and our university to the US. I would like to thank Derek Richardson, Rotaract Club of Springfield Chair for 2016-2017, and its members for their hospitality and interest.”
Answering the questions asked following his speech and introducing the Rotaract Club of İzmir, where he partakes in activities as a guest member, Ege Atis informed the participants about their social responsibility projects by giving actual examples of these projects that are being carried out with a sense of social sensitivity and sharing.
