YUDAR(YÜTAM) TO CONTRIBUTE TO URBAN DESIGN

To turn the city of İzmir and the Aegean region into Turkey’s hub of creative industry, Yaşar University Design Application and Research Center (YUDAR) is working to create added value, and thereby contributing to the region with more designs for production by making use of the academic knowledge and technical facilities available. YUDAR, with its five separate laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art devices that serve every kind of purpose, is at full disposal of students, entrepreneurs and business people.

Yaşar University gathered all of its design labs including industrial design, furniture design, architectural design, animation and graphic design labs under the same roof of YUDAR.  YUDAR Director Lecturer (PhD) Tolga Benli noted that the center’s function is to be a part of the process for converting the ideas of scholars and students into products and bringing them into economic life. Benli also expressed, “Design is a sine qua non for producing products with added value. At YUDAR, we make use of the academic knowledge and the technical facilities available, and apply them to the real life. It is a fully equipped center where designs, models and prototypes are developed for the projects developed as part of university researches and student projects, as well as by some organizations, institutions, and entrepreneurs.”

Our main objective is to contribute to the development of designing and of the region while also being an active entrepreneur to support the development of the design culture in Turkey, said Director Benli, who also noted that they have ongoing projects in cooperation with İzmir Development Agency and İzmir Mediterranean Academy.
