YAREN, OUR PRIDE IN E-SPORTS

Yaren Cirit, student at Yaşar University who now has a cross-border reputation, is representing our country in Sweden’s Property Women’s Team in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) game which is played by millions all around the world.

The number of female e-sport players and women’s teams have been constantly increasing but have yet to reach the numbers seen worldwide. Yaren Cirit, student from Yaşar University’s Department of Visual Communication Design, is one these women players. She is a player of CS: GO, which is the most popular game in Turkey and played by millions worldwide. After her introduction to the e-sports world with strategy and war games she played with her brother and cousins 10 years ago, she became a professional at it and has been competing as a professional player for the last two years. She was later transferred to Sweden’s Property Women’s Team after attracting attention in the international arena.

NOT A SPORT PLAYED ONLY BY MEN

Highlighting that e-sport is not only a mental branch but also a branch which requires strategy and planning, Yaren Cirit continued saying, “The game I play requires a high level of reflexes, skills of controlling keyboard/mouse, timing, accuracy and eye-hand coordination. These skills are not specific to men only. Women can also be successful at least as much as men are, or even more successful than men. Sports have always been a passion for me. Initially, it was just fun to me, playing games with my brother and cousins but later on, e-sport has become an irreplaceable part of my life. And, I have been playing e-sports professionally for the last two years.”
