THE SUCCESS REACHING UP TO THE NETHERLANDS

Research assistants from Yaşar University’s Faculty of Architecture Berk Ekici and Cemre Çubukçuoğlu were admitted to one of the top three architecture schools of the world, Holland’s Delft University of Technology as PhD candidates. Cemre Çubukçuoğlu will conduct a study on new generation designs for sustainable hospital buildings while Berk Ekici will study on smart and efficient designs for the tall buildings that are increasing in number due to increased urbanization.

Tall buildings are one of the most complex architectural buildings in terms of design and construction, noted Research Assistant Berk Ekici. Receiving his undergraduate degree and master’s degree from Yaşar University’s Faculty of Architecture, Ekici also expressed, “In my doctoral research, we work in a multidisciplinary fashion, which integrates architecture with information technologies. As for the objective of the research, it intends to utilize software to be able to develop the best means for producing the optimum design; and the ultimate goal here is actually to allow this optimum design to respond to the numerous objectives specified.”

Research Assistant Cemre Çubukçuoğlu, who earned her undergraduate degree and master’s degree at Yaşar University’s Department of Industrial Engineering, will focus on the designs and efficiency of hospital buildings in her doctoral study. “My doctoral study will also be multidisciplinary, which will integrate architecture with engineering under the Chair of Design Informatics. I will be benefiting from experts’ knowledge about hospital buildings, and their architectural designs.        I will be making use of the courses administered by TU Delft for my doctoral study, which will also be advised by Prof. Dr. Sevil Sarıyıldız, Prof. Dr. Fatih Taşgetiren, and Assoc. Prof. Pirouz Nouria,” said Çubukçuoğlu.
